POSITION SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant is a highly skilled and results-oriented professional who is ready to join our growing team. This key role will involve leading and supervising the company's daily accounting activities, inclusive of financial reporting, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger management, payroll, and reconciling all accounts for monthly and annual closing of the books. The Staff Accountant will be entrusted with maintaining precise and current financial records and ensuring adherence to established accounting standards and regulations.

OBJECTIVES:
- Ensure the processing, tracking, and monitoring of accounts payable and receivable are conducted with high accuracy, including timely invoicing and payment processing. Efficiently handle refunds and create customer credits to maintain financial accuracy and customer satisfaction.
- Manage financial operations effectively, including the issuance and preparation of invoices, timely entry of accounts payable invoices, and preparation of checks, payments, and bank deposits to uphold financial health.
- Resolve billing disputes and manage chargebacks proactively to maintain customer satisfaction while ensuring financial accuracy.
- Maintain the financial health of the organization by ensuring timely payments of debt obligations, such as company credit cards, loans, or lines of credit.
- Manage month-end close tasks, including bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Lead and supervise the day-to-day accounting operations of the company, including financial reporting, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and other related functions.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and other related reports.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulations, including GAAP and IFRS.
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and other financial transactions.
- Monitor and analyze financial data, including variances, trends, and anomalies.
- Develop comprehensive financial reports for senior management and other stakeholders.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, and provide analysis and recommendations to improve financial performance.
- Coordinate and collaborate with other departments, including operations, sales, and marketing, to ensure accurate financial reporting and analysis.
- Assist in coordinating the preparation and compilation of year-end reporting, financial statements, and reconciliations for CPA firm, for tax return preparation.
COMPETENCIES:
- Ability to process accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Can manage bank and general ledger reconciliations as well as payroll processing
- Knowledge of best practices for performing month-end closings
- Ability to track fixed assets and prepare depreciation schedules
- Understanding of how to prepare the trial balance
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Procedures (GAAP)
- Working knowledge of Quickbooks Desktop and Quickbooks Online
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office and G-Suite
- Strong with numbers and figures and possession of analytical acumen
- Ability to work with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting requirements
- Familiarity with bill.com, Gusto, SOS Inventory, Fathom, and similar platforms is a plus
- Proficient in e-commerce financial management, including transaction processing, payment gateway reconciliation (PayPal, Stripe, Shopify Payments), and understanding of e-commerce-specific metrics and tax obligations
- Skilled in inventory management and fraud prevention for e-commerce, ensuring accurate tracking and secure transactions
- Capable of working with finance companies for customer payments and knowledgeable about store cards and financing options like Synchrony to facilitate customer purchases
- Competent in filing and managing sales taxes across various jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with local and state tax laws and regulations
- Requires 2-5 years of accounting experience, preferably with exposure to manufacturing and/or e-commerce sectors.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Associate’s Degree in Accounting and Finance, or equivalent business experience
- At least 2-5 years’ progressively responsible experience in Accounting and Financial management practices
