Staff Accountant

Our firm has partnered with a fast growing, entreprenuerial, industry leader in their search for an Accountant to join their Finance team and help take the company to the next level. This is a newly created position added due to continued company growth. The person hired will report directly to the Controller and enjoy a wide variety of duties/responsibilities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone that wants to learn and advance.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Assist with the Monthly & Annual Closings
• Reconcile bank accounts
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and analyze for discrepancies
• Record and reconcile credit card accounts.
• Maintain bank note schedules and reconciliations.
• Record payments received and follow up on outstanding invoices
• Ensure proper coding of invoices and assist AP as needed
• Review, code, and record expense reports
• Maintain payroll records and assist with payroll processing
• Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
• Provide Job Costing information
• Setup new jobs and ensure estimates are set up
• Prepare/gather materials for external auditors.
• Provide assistance to the external auditors as needed.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Must have experience in AP, AR, and GL
• Understand how processes work independently and collectively
• Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures
• Proficiency in MS Office, ERPs and accounting software.
• Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations quickly and accurately.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to perform filing and record keeping tasks.
• Data entry and word processing skills.
• Ability to stay well organized, prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with concentration in Accounting or Finance with a minimum of 18 hours in Accounting
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounting
