This Staff Accountant I will be responsible to:
- Assist and provide support in the preparation of a variety of recurring financial transactions, reports, and analyses related to the foundation's operating financial statements, intercompany activity, and other sub ledger activity and schedules
- Perform detailed analyses of various general ledger accounts and selected cost centers, as assigned. Review activity for accuracy, completeness, and reasonableness, interpreting trends or deviations and reporting issues to others for corrective action
- Prepare analyses of revenue and expense variances, providing management with explanations for current and prior year changes, and projected impact. Provide information to others that contributes to the development of the foundation's operating budget
- Prepare monthly journal entries for assigned accounts, ensuring all activity is recorded, adjustments are calculated, and corrections are made. Ensure all assigned accounts are reconciled
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis in preparation for reporting purposes..
- Act as a liaison between the owner of the optical shop and the Finance Director/Executive Director of Children's Hospital Ophthalmology Foundation. Respond to somewhat routine questions and solve problems.
- Perform a variety of accounting related duties such as bank account reconciliations, proofreading of financial documents and participating in special projects as requested
- Maintain in an organized manner all supporting back up in various media for review by tax accountants. This includes journal entries, detail trial balance reports, journal entry logs, account reconciliation reports, and various other supporting general ledger schedules
- Assists with the preparation of annual tax filings for the retail optical shop, as well as occasional tax filings for Children's Hospital Ophthalmology including 1099 reporting and the filing of Form 3ABC
To qualify, you must have:
- A High School or equivalent and 3-6 months of time in a related job is required. A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft office, specifically a thorough understanding of excel
- Analytical skills to resolve complex problems requiring the use of scientific, mathematical, or technical principles and in depth, experienced-based cross-functional knowledge
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Hybrid Part time position, requiring 1 day a week in office
