PROFILE
The Staff Accountant position is a dual role assisting the Courtyard by Marriott Downtown and the AC Hotel Grand Rapids Downtown with daily cash auditing and other various accounting functions.
JOB SUMMARY
• Daily cash reconciliations - Prepare daily cash journal entry, counting all cash drops, record and research any variances, and prepare bank deposits at both the Courtyard by Marriott Grand Rapids & AC Hotel Grand Rapids and communicate to Accounting Management any shortages in cash drops.
• Preparing weekly bank deposits and change orders at both properties.
• Preparing Courtyard and AC Hotel Daily revenue report and distributing to management.
• Assisting with resolving guest inquiries regarding billing issues at the Courtyard and AC Hotel.
• Maintain an accurate bank vault at both Courtyard and AC Hotel. Issue paid outs and make change orders as requested by hotel staff. Paid outs must be approved by Accounting Manager before cash is issued. Conducting weekly vault audits and submitting to management, along with completing weekly vault reimbursements and submitted to Accounting Management for approval.
• Maintain tight cash controls, ensuring that all cash handling procedures are followed by all hotel personnel, advising Accounting Management when cash handling issues occur.
• Monthly audits of all cash banks maintained by hotel personnel at both Courtyard and AC Hotel. Issue banks to authorized hotel staff with Accounting Management approval.
• Maintain a monthly spreadsheet of all staff/promo transactions at both properties and any other hotel logs.
• Maintain monthly spreadsheet for beverage invoices, coding invoices to proper General Ledger accounts for upload.
• Assist with Month end tasks including inventories at both properties.
• Marriott Extra Revenue calculations.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION OR CERTIFICATION
• High School diploma required. Associates degree or Bachelor degree in Accounting/Finance is preferred but not required.
EXPERIENCE
• 1+ year’s accounting experience
• An understanding of Microsoft Windows operating systems and desktop products is required.
• Requires experiential knowledge for complex problems.
PROPOSED SCHEDULE
• Monday- Friday 9:00-5:00pm

• The Courtyard by Marriott Grand Rapids and AC Hotel Grand Rapids Downtown functions seven (7) days a week twenty-four (24) hours a day. All associates must realize this fact and be aware that at times it may be necessary to move associates from their accustomed shifts as business demands. In addition, it is understood that business determines the amount of hours which are worked and that some weeks the associate may be scheduled to work more than forty hours.
