Job Title: Staff Accountant (Bank Reconciliation focus)

Department: Accounting

Reports to: Accounting Manager/CFO

FLSA Status: Exempt Safety Rating: Normal

POSITION SUMMARY

This Staff Accountant is focused on ensuring the accuracy of all records of receipts and disbursements of the Bella Vista POA. This includes preparing various reconciliation reports, assisting others with inquiries and solving problems, monitoring cash activity, and related duties.

is responsible for applying principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. Performs related work as required. May require independent judgment in the disposition of routine matters without direct supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares monthly BANK RECONCILIATION reports for multiple checking and investment accounts in accordance with GAAP, ensuring that all are properly stated with adequate supporting documentation.
  • Assists with inquiries regarding deposit corrections and bank adjustments to determine the corrective action.
  • Assists external auditors with documentation requests.
  • Identifies, evaluates, and develops resolutions for reconciling items within (may include journal entry compilation as well as consultation with other departments).
  • Assists with day-to-day operations, monthly and yearly close process and external audit requests as required
  • Supports monthly inventory processes including investigation of variances
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports the company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity
  • Evaluates opportunities for process improvement in compliance with GAAP and corporate while continuing to strive to improve internal controls.
  • Supports the objects and goals of the department and company
  • Conducts other ad-hoc analysis and special projects as needed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to meet the needs of the business, including ad-hoc analysis and special reports.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Must have a Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
