Job Description- Staff Accountant
Da Bomb Bath Fizzers is a locally owned bath and body products company that primarily manufactures bath bombs, bath salts, and body scrubs. Our products are unique because each one contains a fun surprise!
As Da Bomb Bath Fizzers continues to grow, there is a strong need to add a full-time in-office Staff Accountant to the team to help support and manage the company's finances. As with most small businesses, this position is expected to wear multiple hats, be responsible for various accounting responsibilities, and be interested in furthering the growth of the company.
Responsibilities:
Reporting, Analysis & Controls:
• Maintain and reconcile balance sheet, general ledger accounts, and inventory valuations
• Perform the month-end close process to support accurate and timely financial statements
• Prepare monthly financial statements in conformance with GAAP standards for all material Balance Sheet, Revenue and Expense accounts
• Actively resolve any open or unreconciled items
• Provide analysis of any material SG&A account activity and trends
• Responsible for tracking and renewing annual sales tax licenses and assists with sales and use tax filings for assigned jurisdictions
• Assist administration with payroll processing
• Recommend and monitor financial controls
• Prepare and provide information requests from the outside corporate tax preparer
• Provide the CFO a monthly Gross Margin analysis to include identification of any unusual transactions or trends
• Assists in any and all functions as requested to ensure the successful operation of the Accounting Department
• Create and document new policies and procedures as required and update and maintain accurate documentation of the Company’s existing policies and procedures
Inventory:
• Provide accounting support to the Product Development Manager to create and maintain accurate Bills of Material for new product development and existing products
• Routinely audit how Bills of Material are costed to ensure Cost of Goods sold reflect the accurate cost
• Audit and reconcile the inventory valuation using the FIFO method of inventory valuation and the requisite accounting for financial statement purposes
• Oversee and record all inventory adjustments including cycle count variances, scrap, and other inventory adjustments as required
AP/AR:
• Monitor account(s) aging status
• Collect any delinquent customer balances according with the Company Policy
• Process daily banking and credit card transactions and monthly reconciliations
• Timely process AP invoices and vendor payments
• Timely process AR customer invoices and customer payments
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent experience preferred
• Two to five years’ experience with BA/BS Degree
• Direct cost accounting experience preferred
• Basic knowledge of GAAP accounting and standards
• Extensive skills/experience in Excel
• Knowledge of accounting and/or ERP systems
• Ability to work independently or in a team setting and strong ability in problem solving
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
