Job Description
Summary: The Staff Accountant will be responsible for various complex duties including coordinating, preparing, and analyzing reports and journal entries in preparation of the Company’s financial statements. This position reports directly to the Director of Finance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Overseeing internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and month-end financial statement preparation.
- Assist with the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, preparing, and reviewing journal entries and account balance reconciliations.
- Reconciling the Company’s monthly bank statements to general ledger activity.
- Preparing and filing state and local Sales and Use Tax returns.
- Auditing accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit.
- Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
- Consolidate and analyze financial data considering the company’s goals and financial standing.
- Provide creative alternatives and recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance.
- Identify trends and recommend actions to Senior Management based on sound analysis.
- Cultivating and integrating new ideas, processes, and software to increase efficiencies within the Finance department.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business management is preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Excellent leadership, communications, and decision-making skills.
- 1-2 years experience with fixed asset accounting, general ledger management and GAAP.
- Experience with ERP systems is preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of Excel is required.
