Iron Horse Terminals was formed in 2017. It is a rail yard and heavy industrial park which has a wide variety of businesses operating on it.
About the role
The Staff Accountant will work directly with the CFO and perform accounting functions: invoicing, payroll, inventory control, bill entry, reporting, etc. for both the core business and a couple of other smaller businesses associated with Iron Horse. Iron Horse is a family-owned business that is growing and evolving so the role will change with time.
Responsibilities
- Will work in QuickBooks and other software- experience in QuickBooks is not necessary
- Excel reporting for invoicing support and to monitor daily operations
- Maintain and improve processes and controls associated with shop costs and inventory valuation
- Monitor and enforce internal controls and ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures
- Prepare financial analysis to monitor spending in key areas (labor, inventory, etc.)
- Conduct inventory reconciliations monthly
- Respond to controller as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate financial reporting needs
Location & commitments
- 11800 Hwy 90 in Beaumont, TX
- Regular 40-hour work week, normal duty hours as assigned
- May work longer hours to meet deadlines as necessary
Candidate requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or another business discipline with accounting experience
- Prefer at least 5 years of work experience
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work with a team
- Adaptable
- Dependable and self-motivated
