Randall Electrical Contractors is currently seeking a top-tier Staff Accountantto work in our Tutusville, FL office. We are excited about this important role and are determined to consider the best and brightest candidates who meet our requirements.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Vice President, REC - Titusville, the Staff Accountant will work autonomously in our satellite Titusville location. Our accountants must be able to communicate the results of their entries, providing explanations and support for booked amounts. Each month, there is a financial statement close process, and the accountant must meet all related deadlines. During the remaining portion of each month, the accountants will work on various projects, which may include reconciling all assigned balance sheet classes, working with internal and external auditors, preparing and submitting all forms related to tax, corporate, regulatory, and community benefits. The accountants actively participate in outstanding customer service and accept responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Essential Functions
- Gathers and analyzes financial statement information to prepare month end journal entries for all assigned financial classes, cost center, and entities. Ensures that all entries to the financial statements and subsidiary ledgers, from any source system, are approved and posted to the correct location.
- Manages the monthly close process, always meeting deadlines, and getting answers for questionable amounts.
- Routinely reconciles assigned balance sheet classes to a lead schedule and reports issues to department leaders.
- Leads internal and external audits, providing explanations and support for the financial statements.
- Completes all assigned regulatory, tax, community benefit, budget, and AHS forms on time and without errors. Makes judgment decisions on forms as needed, for example, building entire budget for an entity.
- Communicates financial results for assigned areas, with accuracy, timeliness, and clarity to finance and operational departments
- Implements new accounting and control process and procedures.
- Uses healthy skepticism to identify potential internal control issues, fraud, or errors.
- Performs other duties as assigned, to ensure the smooth operation of the department.
Desired Qualification Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- 3-5 years of accounting, experience in Construction preferred
- Complete understanding of double entry accounting and an operational understanding of routine accounting functions.
- Expert knowledge of personal computer applications and spreadsheet analysis.
- Ability to handle many tasks and projects concurrently.
- Ability to communicate well orally and in writing.
- Proven analytical and organizational abilities.
- A Two (2) year (minimum) accounting degree is a requirement.
- Experience with Sage 100 preferred
