Staff Accountant

We are conducting a search for a Staff Accountantto join a top performing team in the Tampa area primarily responsible for assisting with month-end close, transactional accounting, process improvement and analysis.

Staff Accountant Job Duties:

• Managing accounts payable using accounting software and bill.com
• Handling accounts payable for separate entities and vendors
• Analyzing workflow processes and improvement opportunities
• Establishing and maintaining relationships with new and existing vendors
• Ensuring bills and payroll are paid in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to departmental procedures
• Processing payments and credit card transactions ensuring appropriate documentation
• Processing transactions and performing accounting duties such as account maintenance, recording entries and reconciling books of accounts
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts. Ensure accuracy and completeness of all transactions.
• Assist in processing invoices, payments, and receipts. Monitor accounts to ensure timely collection and payment.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Prepare documentation and schedules for external auditors. Assist in the implementation of audit recommendations.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Assist in the preparation of financial reports for management and stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the accounting department. Develop and implement strategies to streamline accounting processes, reduce errors, and enhance overall productivity.
• Conduct special financial analyses and projects as assigned by management.

Staff Accountant Skills/Qualifications: 

•  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field highly preferred.
• 1-3 years of accounting experience preferred. Experience in a corporate accounting environment is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Experience with accounting software (e.g., QBO, Intacct) is desirable.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare meaningful reports.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Self-motivated with a proactive approach to tasks and challenges.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
