The Staff Accountant is responsible for providing accounting support as a
member of the Finance team by being actively involved in day-to-day general ledger
transaction postings and assisting with the month-end financial close process through
reconciliation of balance sheet accounts. The Staff Accountant also assists in the
production of periodic financial/regulatory reports and is a key contributor in processing accounts payable disbursements and monitoring intraday liquidity position.
Responsibilities:
Assist Controller with Finance-related functions and duties.
Responsible for day-to-day posting of finance-related entries into general ledger
and assist in daily review of all other entries recorded.
Assist in reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, including correspondent bank
accounts and ensure proper disposition of outstanding or suspense items.
Track fixed asset and prepaid expense items.
Ensure that accounts receivable owed to the bank are collected promptly.
Provide back-up support to accounts payable specialist to periodically perform
accounts payable disbursement function.
Assist in monitoring the intraday liquidity position of the bank.
Assist in comparing financial performance metric variances to budget and historical
periods and documenting explanations.
Assist with preparation of monthly reporting schedules to management.
Assist with preparation and filing of periodic regulatory reporting, such as
quarterly Call Report and annual audited financial statements.
Provide support to Controller on special Finance-related projects, as needed.
Qualifications:
College degree in Accounting or Finance-related field of study.
1-5 years of experience in an Accounting or Finance
department, financial institution preferred.
Self-motivated and possess the desire for self-development.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word. Ability and willingness to learn
new technologies and adapt to change.
Experience with the following software systems preferred, but are not required:
Jack Henry CIF 20/20, Plansmith Financial Compass, Sageworks, Fixed Asset Pro, FedReporter.
