The CIBC Summer Internship Program is designed to offer great work experience to complement students' classroom training and career goals. Throughout the summer, interns will meet with our executive leadership team, network with employees and fellow interns, and participate in community outreach. We are devoted to finding, selecting, and training interns who will make a positive impact on our company while offering a full learning experience. Our Interns will work alongside a lean, proven team of investment professionals, gaining technical and analytical skills.
CIBC's Commercial Real Estate team is seeking a highly motivated intern for the 2024 summer with an interest in pursuing a career in Commercial Real Estate or commercial banking. This position will work closely with all team members including relationship managers, asset managers, and other functional areas on a range of projects to support CIBC Bank USA's multi-billion dollar national portfolio of Commercial Real Estate loans. The intern will gain hands-on experience in the Commercial Real Estate lending business through exposure to a wide range of team members and projects, and the opportunity to work on live deals alongside experienced Commercial Real Estate Lenders.
What You'll Be Doing

• Support various projects for the Commercial Real Estate Lending group.
• Assist in underwriting of live transactions. This may include market research, completing comparable transaction analyses, and Sponsor due diligence.
• Preparation of internal memos and approval documents alongside relationship managers.
• Perform market research and financial research regarding Real Estate transactions, supply, demand, and market trends.
• Assist with collecting and organizing various data to support portfolio-wide analyses.
• Special projects related to strategic initiatives to be determined based on needs of team at time of internship.

Who You Are

• Undergraduate major in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting, Economics or similar
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00
• Rising seniors/current undergraduate students
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
• Excellent analytical and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and time-sensitive deliverables with a high degree of quality and accuracy.
• Strong organizational skills, work ethic, team-approach, and detail-orientation required.
• Demonstrated interested in Commercial Real Estate or banking through previous coursework, extracurricular involvement, or work/internship experience to be given additional consideration
• To be eligible for this program, you must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis
• Pursuing a bachelor's degree, with an expected graduation date between December 2024 and June 2025

CIBC's Summer Internship program runs for 10 weeks beginning in June 2024 through August. During this time, you will have access to training opportunities, mentorship, and leadership support.
