Summary Description
This role is primarily responsible for the effective and accurate processing, closing, and funding of Commercial Real Estate and construction-development loans. Success in this role would require the ideal candidate to be detail oriented, be able to consistently meet deadlines, to work well under pressure, demonstrate problem-solving abilities to overcome issues that may arise during the loan closing process, demonstrate adaptability and fostering positive relationships, and to continuously contribute to the overall efficiency of the lending process.
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Loan Documentation
    • Prepare and review loan documents ensuring accuracy and compliance with bank and regulatory requirements.
    • Order or collect necessary documents such as title commitments, entity documents, tax certificates, flood certificates, etc.
  • Due Diligence
    • Conduct thorough due diligence reviews on Commercial Real Estate properties, including title commitments, entity documents, tax certificates, flood certificates, etc.
    • Responsible for ensuring all information is accurate and that the Bank’s lien can be perfected.
    • Loan data is entered into the Bank’s core system in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Closing Coordination
    • Coordinating with title, attorneys, and borrowers to ensure a smooth closing process, and that closing timelines are met.
    • Prepare and review closing documents to verify accuracy and completeness.
  • Funding
    • Prepare and complete initial loan disbursements in accordance with closing instructions and statements.
    • Board loans post funding utilizing the Bank’s core system.
  • Customer Service
    • Ensure excellent and proactive customer service when interacting with internal/external customers, and management.
    • Address inquiries or issues within a timely manner.
  • Other Responsibilities
    • Responsible for maintaining SLA, quality, and productivity measures.
    • Assisting in peer review and QA functions as needed.
    • Helps mentor and/or advise other closers.
Requirements/Qualifications
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or other formal education preferred (with a focus on business, legal, finance, risk management, or other similar area)
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in commercial loan closing, processing, and funding, relevant title and/or legal experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of Commercial Real Estate lending, regulations and compliance.
  • Significant experience proofreading and editing Commercial Real Estate Loan documents, including security agreements, deeds of trust, promissory notes, guarantees, and reviewing corporate entity documents.
  • Knowledge of LaserPro and Fiserv DNA core banking system is preferred.
Skills:
  • Can manage and prioritize a pipeline of Commercial Real Estate Loans.
  • Ability to consistently work under pressure, establish priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to recognize and resolve issues in a proactive manner.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills: ability to effectively interact with individuals in all areas.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills – must be detail-oriented and thorough.
  • Can easily adapt and/or align with the evolving landscape and business changes.
  • Can collaborate with senior leadership to align processes or goals with overall objectives.
  • Fosters a culture of continuous learning and positive professional development for others.
  • Strong understanding of Bank systems and processes.
Working Conditions:
  • Hybrid work environment; Monday/Friday work from home, Tuesday-Wed-Thursday in-office
  • Extended business hours and/or mandatory overtime may be required during high-volume months
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to remain stationary (sitting or standing) for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to conduct keyboard/computer work for extensive periods.
  • Ability to communicate clearly (understand/be understood) with customers in person or over the phone/computer.
