Job Description

Core Responsibilities
Oversees, controls and coordinates the activities of all substation maintenance personnel to affect the safe and productive maintenance, repair and inspections of all Substation Operations Transmission and Distribution equipment. All voltage classes 13KV - 500KV, in accordance with 550 Operating Procedures, Engineering plans and specifications, environmental instructions and guidelines.
Review station and job specific Engage work plans in accordance with Engineering instructions, Maximo maintenance requirements, ensuring there are appropriate resource and budget allocations. Closely monitor all compliance related maintenance work involving substation facilities and equipment, ensuring procedural compliance with engineering instructions and work orders are closed out in a timely manner and data recorded appropriately.
Administers and communicates appropriate procedures and engineering plans and specifications to Supervisors to insure the proper operation, preventative maintenance, repair and restoration of transformers, circuit breakers and auxiliary equipment. Prepares emergency repair schedules and return dates for equipment undergoing major repair.
Utilizes productivity standards and monitors performance in meeting these standards.
Utilizes work management reports to meet schedule attainment goals, while working with Central Planning and maintenance supervisors to plan work on a priority basis and follow the work management process in regard to data splice alarms and work closure.
Coordinates, controls and reinforces supervisory activities associated with availability and timely delivery of materials, supplies, spare parts and equipment.
Monitors and approves within prescribed limits, expenditures for labor, material, supplies and equipment and manage and schedules all vendor support and internal department support of maintenance activities.
Supports the investigation of any applicable Operating errors, safety infractions (RWLB, OSHA injuries and/or motor Vehicle Collisions) as well as identifying Close Calls and HPI improvements.
Partners with EH&S organization to manage and support applicable environmental compliance information in conjunction with Station supervisors as it relates to EH&S related Maximo compliance items, walk-through of substations in advance of Audits as well as follow-up to audits.
Ensure equipment/facility Summerization/Winterization Programs are executed on time.
Directs the preparation of Maintenance schedules to support holiday and extreme weather criteria, as well as coastal storms and hurricanes. Participates in emergency drills involving maintenance activities.
Performs periodic Substation Inspections and recommend projects to address non-compliance conditions.
Manage establishment of requirements and preparation of assigned Area annual XM Budget submittal.
Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.
Required Education/Experience
High School Diploma/GED and 7 years' work experience or
Associate's Degree and 6 years' work experience or
Bachelor's Degree and 5 years' work experience
Relevant Work Experience
5-7 years Technical understanding of substation operating procedures, engineering instructions, EH&S (safety) procedures, and work management systems used to plan, assign, complete substation maintenance tasks. Required and

5-7 years Strong leadership and organizational skills, demonstrated ability to understand and solve complex technical problems. Drive excellent safety and efficiency performance through effective planning, use of HPI tools, and data metrics utilization. Required and

Physical Demands
Must respond to system emergencies
Must work at field locations in all weather conditions
Must perform extended driving through heavy traffic and severe off-road conditions
Must work in an environment that includes heat, noise, confined spaces, and high elevations
Must climb ladders and stairs
Must work on elevated platforms, scaffolds, catwalks, roofs, or equipment
Must work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces)
Must work with and in the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems
Must be approved and able to wear either a full- or half-face respirator without facial hair or other condition that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations.
Must stand, walk, and climb ladder and stairs for a whole shift
Must walk, stand, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach
Must travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies
Must wear all necessary personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including; fire retardant clothing and safety harness
Must work rotating shifts, including nights, midnights, weekends, and holidays
Must use their personal vehicles and transport, store, and secure company laptop computers and other job related equipment in the vehicle. Reimbursement for use of personal vehicle is available through the company mileage procedure.
Other Physical Demands
- Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
