Position Description:

We are seeking a VMware Engineer to support an institute at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) located in Bethesda, MD.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Analyze IT environment needs and make technical recommendations to project managers and senior staff.
• Maintain IT systems through application of operating system updates, software updates, and firmware upgrades.
• Remediate vulnerabilities identified by the security team via Netsparker or Tenable reports within the NIH mandated time frame.
• Maintain configuration and security baselines using Group Policy
• Manage and troubleshoot network physical connections, layer two switching, and firewall access control lists.
• Use Windows Active Directory to manage and assign permissions to users, groups, and computer objects.
• Assist in security hardening of operating systems and applications to ensure compliance with the NIH standard of security.
• Maintain security agent and antivirus compliance on workstations and servers.
• Patch network endpoints and maintain compliance using server application.
• Generate, order, and install web server certificates in Apache and IIS
• Generate and analyze OS and application logs for root cause troubleshooting.
• Create, write, and edit documentation based on system framework.
• Assist as Tier 3 for Service Desk and Development Teams
• Comply with all training and business process requirements.
• Participate in a on call rotation, monitoring system alerts after hours, and taking corrective action or escalating when necessary.

Compensation and Benefits

The projected compensation range for this position is $106,000.00 to $144,000.00per year benchmarked in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
