Location: Richmond, VA Headquarters (hybrid after training period)
Rate: Commensurate with experience + great benefits
The Sr. Tax Specialist provides federal and state tax preparation for all IMB field employees.
Responsibilities:
* Responsible for the preparation of complicated federal tax returns.
* Reviews and checks tax returns prepared by other Tax Specialists.
* Researches and answers questions from field employees.
* Evaluates accuracy of prepared tax returns by external CPA's.
* Assists with e-filing returns.
* Maintains and archives tax files per IRS regulations.
* Review and update tax questionnaires, instructions, and tax forms annually for distribution.
* Prepare In-Plan Roth conversion estimates for field personnel during the fourth quarter of the year.
* Maintain knowledge of tax law, attending seminars and participating in online seminars, reading IRS publications and regulations.
* Deliver tax information presentations at the Field Personnel Orientations (FPO) throughout the year and attend FPO resource fairs and Stateside Conference resource fairs as needed.
* Assist with training new tax team personnel.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, preferred.
* At least 3 years of applicable experience including tax preparation, required.
* Proficient in Excel.
* Ability to work collaboratively.
* Strong one-on-one communication skills.
* Knowledge of, or willing to learn Drake Tax Software.
* Ability to work extended hours and weekends during prime tax season (February 15 - April 15).
