POSITION SUMMARY:
The role will serve as the leader in the development, deployment and continuous improvement of programs and systems that support safety, maintenance and quality. Foster a culture of proactivity, accountability, engagement and sustainability through robust programs and processes with the primary goal of reducing loss and liability. This key role will lead safety and maintenance matters to ensure the organization meets or exceeds legislative, corporate and industry requirements, as well as best practice standards.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide support to the development, implementation and management of safety and maintenance programs to promote a proactive culture focused on incident prevention and ensuring regulatory compliance.
2. Lead and mentor the distribution center maintenance team to maintain and improve functionality and reliabile facility equipment.
3. Assure appropriate countermeasures are properly identified ways to prevent reoccurrence utilizing a robust incident investigation process including 5-Why root cause analysis.
4. Organize and participate in safety committee activities.
5. Develop specific safety objectives and create actions plans to meet those objectives.
6. Lead, facilitate, and/or support continuous improvement efforts, events, sustainment and/or teams, which may include overseeing the completion of projects, including planning; delegation of duties, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work; evaluating results, etc.
7. Deliver continuous improvement training, coaching, and/or sponsoring learning projects for full-time, part-time, temporary and seasonal coworkers.
8. Maintain appropriate records and prepare presentations and/or reports as necessary, collaborating in developing and maintaining databases to include tracking of training for all coworkers.
9. Regularly communicate with leadership and coworkers to ensure achievement of corporate, department and team objectives.
10. Assist with and/or coordinate 6S and visual management activities throughout the facility.
11. Facilitate and manage maintenance daily tasks and ticketing system.
12. Order all materials, supplies and products for maintenance and building needs.
13. Oversees the quality team and their processes.
14. Helps manage the audit process and data for the facility.
15. Manages all vendors working with Pure Fishing in KCDC.
16. Develop, deliver and/or coordinate safety related training and training tools.
17. Aid in development, implementation and tracking of safety training and improvement programs into daily operations.
18. Other duties as assigned or required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCES:
1. Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health/Environmental Engineering/Chemical Engineering or equivalent degree/experience preferred.
2. WMS experience required.
3. Background in safety practices required, OSHA certification a plus.
4. Ability to actively participate in team-oriented processes influence team engagement and to drive team decision making to conclusions/solutions.
5. Must possess a theoretical and practical knowledge of all state and federal regulatory standards.
6. Knowledge of current safety and loss control practices is essential.
7. SME/ASQ/Six Sigma Lean certification preferred.
8. Previous logistics and/or manufacturing experience is preferred.
