West Bend is looking for a senior backend engineer with knowledge in C#, .NET, SQL, and Agile methodologies. The ideal person is an enthusiast learner, effective communicator, and capable mentor. As part of our team, you’ll be working on developing and maintaining personal property and casualty insurance products with a focus on our agent and underwriter end-users. You’ll be part of a small collaborative Agile team that works together to create high quality maintainable software.
A senior Software Engineer on our team is primarily responsible for writing and maintaining high quality code, guiding the design of our software systems, and contributing to the growth and learning of other developers on the team. As part of your day to day, you may be expected to:
- Investigate complex technical problems
- Communicate technical issues and their solutions to your team
- Review code written by your peers
- Develop expertise in areas of our software and act as a subject matter expert
- Evaluate design decisions and advocate for improvements
- Contribute to and improve the documentation of our code
- Participate in and/or lead Agile ceremonies
Preferred Skills:
- Proficiency writing C#
- Proficiency writing unit and integration tests
- Proficiency with XML, XSLT, and JSON
- Experience with cloud native back-end development
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and debugging skills
- Experience working in an agile or Scrum environment
- Effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical roles
- Experience with Azure
- Previous mentoring and leadership experience a plus
- Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment is a plus
- Experience with ReactJS framework is a plus
