Salary: $85,000.00-$104,000

Job Description: TheSr. SCADA Technician provides software application solutions, development, advice, and assistance to clients to design, develop, integrate, and maintain SCADA systems. Responsibilities include ensuring the availability, integrity, and reliability of assigned SCADA screen views or system support. The Sr. SCADA Tech conducts analysis, programming, troubleshooting, recommending solutions, and implementing fixes associated with SCADA systems and applications, alongside preparing and reviewing design documentation. This position has similar responsibilities to the SCADA Tech, but requires additional experience.  

 

Job Duties  

  • Execute project installation of SCADA systems in-house with our clients in close cooperation with the project organization. 
  • Develop and implement both templated and customized solutions tailored to customers’ SCADA requirements. 
  • Troubleshoot various SCADA issues such as communications loss, unlinked data/screens, alarms, etc. 
  • Execute project installation of SCADA systems in close cooperation with the project organization. 
  • Develop and implement customized solutions tailored to clients’ SCADA requirements. 
  • Work with Field Personnel, CRM and the Control Center on projects to determine points that need to be brought back into the SCADA system when performing SCADA integration of field sites. 
  • Participate in lineouts testing to meet regulatory requirements. 
  • Work closely with Field Personnel to configure, test, and troubleshoot data polling from the SCADA System to remote PLCs and RTUs. 
  • Configure, test and document SCADA control system devices with a focus on electric utility operations. 
  • Configure/model SCADA devices in database environment. 
  • Communicate and collaborate with field technicians for SCADA device commissioning. 
  • Document device testing, commissioning and release via test sheets and record tracking systems, obtain required approvals, and submit changes. 
  • Provide troubleshooting support in analyzing, diagnosing, and resolving problems associated with SCADA systems. 
  • Comply with NERC CIP policies, cyber security industry best practices, and all client security standards. 
  • Comply with the customer’s initial training and refresher training requirements. 
  • Communicate effectively through various means (Teams/Email/Text/Phone). 

 

Physical & Other Requirements  

  • 1-2 years of Engineering, Operations, IT or other utility experience desired 
  • Associate’s Degree with 5+ years’ experience or Bachelor’s Degree with 2+ years’ experience 
  • Remaining in a stationary position and in front of a computer screen for prolonged periods  
  • Repeating motions, such as typing, that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers  
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills  
  • Possess a strong desire and ability to learn new technology at a rapid pace 
  • Work within tight deadlines and stay focused under pressure 
  • Independently prioritize work to handle multiple concurrent projects to achieve results 
  • Provide 24x7 support to the Control Center on a rotational basis 
  • Experience working with Control Systems or SCADA systems (databases, HMI/GUIs, alarming, historization, protocol analyzer) 
  • Experience in SAT and commissioning and documenting work processes and testing 
  • Ability to be self-managing and solve challenging problems independently 
  • Knowledge of NERC CIP compliance, operating systems, network topology, and telecommunications systems 
  • Knowledge of RTSCADA, ADMS, DMS highly desired 
  • Graphical user interface (GUI) and design skills desired 
  • Familiarity with automation communication protocols (DNP3, PGE 2179, Modbus) 
  • Knowledge of electrical operating equipment (line reclosers, switches, regulators, etc.) highly desired 
  • Knowledge of Access or SQL database systems 
  • Available to work an on-call rotation and support 24x7 operations of high availability SCADA systems when on-call
