Position Overview
As a well established and reputable Real Estate firm, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Property Accountant to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in property accounting, a strong understanding of financial principles, and a proven track record of managing complex financial processes. As a Senior Property Accountant, you will play a key role in overseeing the financial aspects of a designated property portfolio, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Reports directly to the Controller
- Maintains a portfolio of approximately 8 properties.
- Responsible for Accounting Month End Closing, including working with Site teams to resolve all issues that affect financial reporting.
- Responsible for reporting, including preparing monthly financial packages by deadlines and requirements.
- Responsible for General Ledger Reconciliation. This includes analysis of monthly financial statements, reconciliation of GL accounts and sub ledgers, bank reconciliations, and performing journal entries as necessary.
- Responsible for Cash management. This includes monitoring cash positions to ensure the availability of funds, preparation of cash forecast reports, approving vendor payables to be disbursed, and handling payments for debt service, owner distributions, sales tax, or other items as required.
- Responsible for Accruals for utilities, payroll, and other items as needed.
- Responsible for maintaining and amortization of prepaid accounts.
- Assist as necessary in the preparation of annual budgets
- Strong knowledge of accounting concepts
- Assist with variance explanations to owners as necessary.
- Responsible for dealing with audits related to the properties.
- Working knowledge of Yardi software is a plus.
- Proficiency in Excel is required.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
- Minimum 5 years of experience preparing financial statements for multi-property portfolios.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred.
- Extremely diligent, detail-oriented and focused.
