Sr Project Engineer

Position Summary

A Senior Project Engineer is an experienced engineer who leads complex projects. They provide technical expertise and guidance to the project team and ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The Sr. Project Engineer implements client projects, leads team members on client projects, provides front-line and escalated end-user support, and performs system configuration and troubleshooting on-site and remotely to various Net3IT clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design, and implementation of complex IT infrastructure projects for clients.
• Collaborate with the project manager to define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
• Conduct technical assessments and develop solutions to meet client needs.
• Oversee the implementation of hardware and software solutions, including server installations, network configurations, and cloud migrations.
• Manage project risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.
• Prepare project documentation and status reports for clients and internal stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to IT infrastructure and systems.
• Conduct technical assessments and develop solutions to meet client needs.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior Project Engineers.
• Provide technical expertise to the sales team to support sales activities.
• Participate in the on-call rotation to provide after-hours support to clients.
• Prepare technical documentation.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant technologies, products, and Services.
• Provide input into the development of service offerings and project methodologies.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices.
• Other tasks or duties as assigned or required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
• 4+ years of experience in IT infrastructure Project Engineering and Management
• Strong technical knowledge and expertise in relevant products and technologies, including cloud computing, networking, and server infrastructure.
• Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, or Azure Solutions Architect are desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience working with clients in a managed service provider environment is desirable.

• Storage Area Networks and Backup Solutions
• VMWare (ESXi, VSphere, Horizon)
• Firewall/Switch/Wireless installation/configuration (VLANs, VPN, routing protocols, etc.)
• Microsoft 365 / Google Apps for Education/Business
• MS-Windows (10 & 11) & Mac Desktop Operation Systems

Work Conditions and Other Considerations:

Senior Project Engineers at MSPs typically work in an office setting but may also travel to client sites as required. They may be required to work outside of regular business hours to meet the needs of clients and project team members.
