Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview
The Sr. Product Engineer involves being a part of the engineering team that develops complex embedded hardware products in the area of Distribution Switching and Distribution Automation for the electric utility market.
Will support various engineering programs including New Product Introduction, Sustaining Engineering, Value Engineering, Product troubleshooting, and Product enhancements for multiple Distribution Switching products (i.e Programmable Sectionalizers, Line Post Sensors, Reclosers, etc). Will participate in a deep level technical conversation about entire product across various disciplines - Firmware, Hardware, Mechanical Engineering, GUI development, Type Testing, Functional Testing and be able to successfully work with various cross-functional teams such as Manufacturing team, Product Management team, Field Application Engineering team etc.
This role is an exceptional fit for an engineer who is passionate, proficient and enjoys working on all aspects of new product launch, as well as, be able to work with a sense of urgency to deliver top tier quality solutions to end-users.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth failure analysis investigations on Medium Voltage Switchgear Products like Recloser, Programmable Sectionalizer, Line Post Sensors, etc, to determine the root cause of failures and faults.
  • Create detailed, accurate, and timely technical reports outlining the findings of failure analysis investigations, identifying the root cause, and suggesting preventative measures.
  • Work with product development and manufacturing teams to implement improvements based on failure analysis.
  • Collaborate with Engineering & Product management team to communicate the results of failure investigations.
  • Utilize failure analysis results to improve product design, manufacturing processes, and preventive procedures.
  • Provide continual feedback to the engineering team on issues discovered to assist with continual improvement.
  • New product introduction (NPI) assistance and support
  • Assist Engineering with product testing by setting up testing environments and executing testing.

Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the area of product failure analysis
  • Good technical understanding of switchgear systems, standards, and safety protocols
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving abilities, particularly in identifying the root causes of complex technical problems.
  • Experience with writing detailed and informative technical reports.
  • Proficient with computer applications
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Must be able to comfortably work with various cross-functional teams - Product Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Firmware, Testing, Offshore, etc.
  • Must have the passion and aptitude for grasping/learning new concepts, technologies, and products.
  • Exposure in Electromechanical products design
  • Exposure to Embedded systems & User Interface application
