What You’ll Bring
The Body-in-White Process Engineer will be responsible for sustaining and redesigning mechanical portions of the body center. This would include re-designing mechanical aspects of fixtures and tooling. Hands-on Engineer working closely with design engineering, quality, production, and line builders to take vehicle design changes and new vehicle designs from initial concepts through prototype and full production.
What You’ll Do
- You will analyze, design, and optimize new production processes to ensure safety while maximizing yield, capacity, and cost effectiveness to enable the build of world-class vehicles
- You will develop and modify existing line layouts, processes, and fixtures to improve material flow, waste reduction, safety, and ergonomics by utilizing Lean Manufacturing best practices
- Support the transition of a product from concept to pilot line production and into mass manufacturing
- Develop GD&T strategy to support vehicle quality build targets and drive tooling design
- Define a project’s scope, manage spend against the budget, coordinate with outside vendors, and oversee the installation of new equipment to ensure all requirements are met
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in an engineering related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in a Body Shop manufacturing environment
- Process engineering skills e.g. process development/improvement, troubleshooting, data analysis, constraint analysis, flow optimization, etc.)
- Extensive hands-on experience modifying jigs, fixtures, and coordinating equipment installations
- Good understanding of BOMs, manufacturability, process design, process validation, assembly methods, design reviews and cost reduction methodologies
- Experienced with AUTOCAD, CATIA software or similar tools
