Summary of Position:
Under limited supervision from the Director of Wholesale Planning, this position is responsible for developing department store sales plans to ensure the growth of our business is profitable while maintaining corporate goals. This position is accountable for ensuring all accounts are meeting their individual sales, receipt, markdown and margin goals through constant analysis and communication with the sales team.
Work closely with Director of Planning to develop and execute corporate sales and merchandising objectives.
Major Functions:
- Develop seasonal store plans and topline sales plans for department stores based on company topline goals.
- Develop quarterly financial and merchandise strategies based on historical data and corporate product initiatives.
- Build initial market order based on merchandise strategy and corporate goals.
- Present initial market order to Account Executive. Partner closely on final order to ensure corporate product goals and business strategies are met.
- Partner with AE on OTB to forecast of sales, markdowns, margin and turn and recommend strategies to drive the business.
- Monitor and report weekly sales and stock to determine trend and recommend action.
- Analyze and review weekly and monthly style selling reports with Sales to recommend best seller reorders and identify weak styles.
- Conduct location analysis by region and volume group to identify sales opportunities and store allocation recommendations.
- Create and maintain inventory flow of basic products to support stock models.
- Collaborate with Production to ensure current inventory flow meets the need of sales trends.
- Interact with Account Executive, Product Development and Design to understand demand forecast drivers.
- Work with Ops team to understand delivery dates of inbound shipments and communicate any significant changes to Manager of Planning.
- Prepare historical data for corporate sales and merchandise plans.
Education, Knowledge, Training, Skills and Experience Required:
A bachelor’s degree in business, along with 5 plus years of experience in retail planning or buying is typically required. Thorough knowledge of retail math is also required. Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, takes pride in accuracy, ability to view things in a different perspective and able to independently organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential in the optimum performance of this position.
