Description:
Our Network Engineer will be responsible for planning, developing, deploying, testing and optimizing network and system services. The Network Engineer will take responsibility for configuration management and overall operational readiness of network systems which include multiple operating systems and configurations, and direct troubleshooting and fault-finding services for network problems. The successful candidate will have documented experience with DoD networks, systems engineering and architecture analysis, technical studies and evaluations, technology assessments and information systems security policy compliance. The Network Engineer will have a demonstrated ability to articulate complex issues and proposed resolutions to technical and non-technical government customer.
Responsibilities:
• Analyzing, develop, interpret, and evaluate complex system design and architecture specifications, data models and diagrams in the development, configuration and integration of computer network systems
• Research, analyze, evaluate, and monitor network infrastructure to ensure networks are configured to operate at optimal performance
• Provide specialist skills in supporting and troubleshooting network problems and emergencies
• Install, configure, test, maintain and administer new and upgraded networks, software database applications, servers and workstations
• Prepare and maintain procedures and documentation for network inventory, and recording diagnosis and resolution of network faults, enhancements and modifications to networks, and maintenance instructions
• Participate in preparation and maintenance of work breakdown structures, detailed schedules, project progress, and monthly reports.
Requirements:
• Active DoD Secret Clearance minimum – Top Secret clearance will be a plus
• Bachelors’ Degree is required
• 5+ years of experience as a Network Engineer focused on Cisco and/or Juniper appliances/environments
• 2+ years working on USN and DOD environments
• Solid technical understanding of network architectures to include network appliances; security appliances; application services; virtual environments; network management tools; network protocols; network troubleshooting; and optimizing network performance
• Ability to use software, tools, and scripts to configure, monitor, troubleshoot and repair network equipment
• Proven expertise in troubleshooting network problems
• Good working experience with switching technologies and concepts
• Strong working and troubleshooting knowledge of routing protocols; e.g., OSPF and BGP
• Schedule and perform network maintenance, repair, and upgrade tasks as needed while limiting the impact on the production network
• Understanding and using network analysis tools
