Role Summary
Magna New Mobility is a startup inside Magna International, a mobility technology company and one of the largest automotive suppliers in the world. We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the New Mobility group in Lowell, MA. As the Senior ME, you will take a lead role in mechanical development of Autonomous Mobile Robots and e-Mobility projects - generating and evaluating innovative concepts, building and testing designs, and launching them into production.
Key Responsibilities
- Design including but not limited to: Requirements analysis, Mechanical architecture development, component design and assembly management
- In depth analysis, simulation, development of design documentation (3D models, 2D drawings, ME/EE interface, DFMEA)
- Mechanical integration of PCBAs and sensors (e.g. radar, lidar, cameras, etc.)
- Thermal management, design and analysis of electronic assemblies
- Prototyping and Testing including but not limited to: Verify mechanical requirements at component and assembly level testing
- Support design, fabrication and build of test set-ups and test equipment used by design and test engineering groups.
- Support building, modifying and verifying of engineering prototype samples,
- Support ED, DV, PV testing by conducting tests and documenting results as needed.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
- 6+ years’ relevant experience regarding the Responsibility/ Activities in serial development.
- Experience with related robotic and vehicle systems.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects; requires good time management and organizational skills to meet stringent deadlines.
- Knowledge in mechanical design, development, and testing of robotic or mechatronic systems.
- Knowledge of structural and thermal design methodologies.
- Knowledge in mechanical analysis techniques (first order through CAE).
