Position Description:
Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer for Medtronic, Inc. located in Jacksonville, FL. Design and develop medical devices from solution assessment through commercialization in cross-functional groups. Lead product requirement definition, mechanical architecture, design, implementation of medical devices. Interface with users and marketing as part of Voice of Customers/Business/Regulatory (VOX) concerning product features and functions. Leverage Computer Aided 3-D parametric design and modeling using AutoCAD, Creo, and GD&T. Leverage Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and fluid analysis. Responsible for the design of plastic injection molded components, extrusion parts, design fixture and machine parts, and single use sterile devices. Utilize DRM (Design, Reliability and Manufacturability), six sigma, Design assemblies including Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly. Provide risk analysis and risk mgmt. using FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analysis) and DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve & Control). Responsible for design verification and validation, and test method and strategy development. Leverage Statistical analysis using Minitab, DOE (Design of Experiments), capability analysis, Tolerance stack-up analysis, Gauge R&R, and correlation and regression analysis. Navigate the complexities of various government and industry standards to include FDA 21 CFR 820, ISO 13485, and ISO 14971. Responsible for PLCM (Product life cycle mgmt.) systems to include Agile and Windchill. Relocation assistance is not available for this position. #LI-DNI
Basic Qualifications:
Requires a Master's degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Industrial Engineering or related engineering field and 2 years of experience in R&D or Mechanical Design Engineering occupation for medical devices, or a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Industrial engineering or related engineering field and 5 years of experience in R&D or Mechanical Design Engineering occupation for medical devices. Must possess a minimum of two (2) years with each of the following: AutoCAD, Creo, and GD&T; FEA and fluid analysis; Design of plastic injection molded components, extrusion parts, design fixture, and machine parts; Design for Manufacturing and Assembly; Risk analysis, FMEA, and DMAIC; Design verification and validation, and test method and strategy development; Minitab, DOE, capability analysis, and correlation and regression analysis; Tolerance stack up analysis and Gauge R&R; FDA 21 CFR 820, ISO 13485, and ISO 14971; PLCM including Agile and Windchill.
