Position summary:Responsible for setting up, maintaining and upgrading production and facilities equipment and systems to prevent unscheduled down time.
A Day in the Life:
- Installs, inspects, repairs, and maintains mechanical and electrical equipment, plumbing, and physical structures in the plant operating facility according to specifications, codes, safety requirements and company procedures.
- Resolves defects or malfunctions.
- Repairs and maintains all production items as noted according to blueprints, manuals, or building codes using hand tools, air tools, and power tools.
- Operates, maintains and repairs all industrial fork trucks and lifts including propane and gasoline systems.
- Makes and repairs structures within plant, such as steel shelving, wooden enclosures, re-routing electrical accesses as the need arises.
- Carries out preventative maintenance programs for all plant equipment.
- Operates TIG, MIF, gas, or arc welding equipment and assembles fabricated metal parts.
- Maintains specified records and logs of repairs and maintenance activities.
- Cleans immediate work area.
- Perform all job duties in a safe manner and adheres to all safety policies and procedures
- Works on Continuous Improvement and support all PPI, Keys, and Lean projects
- Works independently and continuously makes decisions for various quality situations in fabricating and repairing equipment.
- Frequently works in awkward positions observing or making adjustments to machines or equipment.
Keys to Success:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum three years related experience with prior technical training in a related field and/or work experience in maintenance or related field is preferred to become proficient in this job.
- Knowledge of general maintenance techniques and processes
- Beginner digital literacy or willingness to learn.
- Knowledge of shop math
- Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers and CNC equipment.
- Proven trouble-shooting skills in order to diagnose equipment malfunctions and determine repairs needed.
- Skilled in use of a variety of electrical and mechanical tools
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics
- Knowledge of applicable codes for plumbing, electric, building
- Able to standing, reaching, pulling and pushing, repetitive motion and lift up to 35 pounds are required.
- Comfortable driving, or willing to learn to drive a forklift and other powered industrial equipment preferred.
