Title: Sr. Manager, Solutions Architect (DevOps)
Location: Hybrid Onsite in Lake Forest, CA (3 days/week in office)
Terms: Full Time / Direct Hire
Reports To: Sr. Director of Engineering
Salary Range: $175-200K
Job Summary
Our client is the worldwide leader in access solutions. Our offering covers products and services related to openings, such as locks, doors, gates and entrance automation solutions. This also includes expertise in controlling identities with keys, cards, tags, mobile and biometric identity verification systems. They are the market leader in IoT, smart connectivity, locksets, high security key systems, door closers, exit devices, electro-mechanical products, and access control systems for new construction, renovation, and replacement applications.
- In this role, you will provide leadership, mentorship, and oversight to a high-performance team of engineering of engineers across product delivery, technology decisions, and best practices to help simplify and improve development processes through the latest in technology and automation.
- You are a technical expert and leads through the requirements gathering, design, development, deployment, and support phases of a product.
- You'll need to come from a strong technical background with a history of working on large scale systems and managing world-class teams.
- Our current stack includes Redshift, RDS, Glue, Lambdas, S3, the AWS developer tools, and other AWS technologies.
Detailed Description
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Establish, lead, and influence the vision of the product by contributing to software design and architecture that results in high performing technology.
- Develop and enhance software providing strategy and direction to solve complex business problems by keeping customer experience at the forefront.
- Lead and model a DevOps mindset by applying automation, continuous integration, and continuous delivery in everything we do.
- Foster innovation by applying best practices and learning from emerging technologies and through working collaboratively within a matrix.
- Thought leader contributing to the development of methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people in projects and assignments of diverse scope.
- Lead and facilitate teams creating highly collaborative environment.
- Lead software engineering teams in the areas of Internet of Things (IoT) in the cloud technologies.
- Leading operations-centric, strategic, and highly collaborative engineering teams
- Implementation and support of high-availability AWS infrastructure
- Support work transparency and Agile practices.
- Design, roll-out, and support efficient processes for your team.
- Collaborate with direct reports on their professional development and growth.
Education and Experience Profile
- BS or MS Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent field
- 5-7 years of Engineering Management experience in SaaS solutions on Cloud providers such as AWS
- 8-12 years of hands-on Development implementation experience.
- Experience with API-First development and designing scalable APIs.
- In-depth knowledge of CI/CD practices and tools.
- Strong technical communication and leadership skills to lead investigations with engineers of multiple disciplines.
- In depth understanding and application of leading teams including establishing organizational goals aligned with product vision to achieve business success.
Additional Desired Skills
- Proven expertise in software architectures and integration processes.
- Managing and leading the software/firmware engineering team
- Strong understanding of the current state of automation infrastructure, CI/CD, containers, security, networking, and build systems.
- Strong understanding of test automation with embedded electronics systems-under-test.
- Knowledge of containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Reviewing product specifications and designs
- Leading and being involved in design and code reviews.
- Promoting secure software development lifecycle
- Experience managing remote individuals that may be located in different time zones and/or countries.
- Experience with Embedded development
- Strategic thought leader and problem solver that is able to lead through others developing creative solutions.
- Ability to facilitate delivery partnership through right level of planning, coordination, alignment, and leadership visibility occurs to ensure on time, on budget delivery of initiatives.
- Superior communication skills with proven ability to guide senior levels and cross functional teams both internal and external.
- Deep understanding of modern software development, emerging trends and industry and competitor intelligence.
- Experience developing and deploying applications under RTOS, Linux, Windows, and iOS.
- Knowledge of digital certificates.
Work Environment:
- Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
- Hybrid work in office at least 3 days/week.
