In August 2020, American Express launched a new network in mainland China through our joint venture, Express Company (EC). Amex is the first foreign network to operate in China, and this represents a significant opportunity for us to compete in one of the largest and most advanced payments markets in the world. The Enterprise China Management (ECM) team partners across EC and Amex to build the China business and capitalize on this incredibly exciting opportunity for growth.
The Senior Manager role will be focused on liaising with key members of Express Company and other internal Amex partners to drive our Product and Benefits strategy in the mainland China market. This Senior Manager will be a key member of the team in New York supporting the growth of the business in mainland China.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Lead the card Product and Benefits workstream for our business in China
- Collaborate with EC and AXP teams to develop the product line and benefit strategies for EC’s consumer products
- Drive delivery against EC timelines to support product launches by managing relationships with partners, identifying opportunities, and resolving potential obstacles/risks
- Facilitate global benefits extension: including finalizing benefits contracts, managing potential issues, and collaborating with tech on enablement
- Work with EC and AXP partners to troubleshoot and resolve any potential customer escalations
- Become a go-to-expert on the China market and consumer trends, devising creative solutions to meet cardmember needs
- Working proficiency in Mandarin (speaking and writing) preferred
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in the payments industry, with expertise in financial products, partner management, and/or benefits strategy
- Aptitude for building strong relationships and influencing internal and external partners
- Comfortable working against tight deadlines, bringing structure to imperfect information and ambiguity, and developing associated action plans
- Project management experience and/or ability to manage multiple partners and workstreams
- Adaptable and comfortable working on a variety of initiatives, many without an established process or solution
- Strong work ethic with an intense will-to-win and demonstrated personal excellence with attention to detail
- Strong executive presence, effective written and verbal communicator
- Flexibility to work across multiple time zones, as needed
- Ability to travel to mainland China if business need arises
Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
