The Infrastructure Engineering team was built to align infrastructure with development and QR to allow for direct working access to the trading environment and teams and will focus on improving the performance of the trading system and providing metrics so decisions can be made on data rather than intuition.
To qualify, the candidate must be able to interact with development and QR staff to design and implement scalable and low latency solutions. The ideal candidate will have a solid Linux system administration background and be able to use his/her development skills in Perl, Python, Bash, or AWK to expand on our already mature Linux environment and to assist in writing and maintaining performance monitor and reporting tools.
Position Requirements:
Extensive experience with Linux preferably Red Hat
Knowledge of Linux software development tools, like compilers, debuggers, memory profilers and how they are used in a RHEL environment
Detailed understanding of IP and Ethernet networking concepts and how they are implemented and operate in a Linux environment
Experience with file system management and maintenance including quota's and permissions
Ability to configure and maintain NFS, SMTP, LDAP and autofs subsystems
Skilled with Linux performance measuring and tuning tools like top, ntop, sa, psacct and oprofile, as well as commercial systems.
Experience in automating all aspects of Linux system administration including mass server buildouts; server surveys, inventory, and asset management; patch management;
Senior level Perl, Python, and Bash programming skills and experience with formal object-oriented languages (C/C++/Java, etc.) a definite plus.
Linux troubleshooting experience
Solid experience with Veritas products: VCS, VxVM, VxFS, helpful
Linux LDAP integration with Windows AD helpful
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, or related engineering or science curriculum
Experience working with Networking, Development, and QR users to achieve goals and fix problems
Server hardware experience including but not limited to HP and Dell
Basic Windows administration knowledge helpful
Basic understanding of SAN and NAS storage and administration of storage systems
Experience dealing with financial exchange colocations is very helpful
Soft Skills:
