Cornell University's Department of Communication seeks a colleague to join a dynamic program and make strong teaching contributions to our core curriculum requirements of excellence in written communication and expression. The ability to write within the communication major and beyond is central to the training of the next generation of communication leaders. The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence in the ability to teach students to communicate successfully through writing and in the use of innovative teaching methods in the classroom.The primary responsibility will be teaching the required undergraduate writing course, which has previously covered topics, including academic/database research, source credibility identification, social scientific argumentation with clarity, editing and revising, citation management, writing in communication careers, and abiding by the highest standards of academic integrity. The successful candidate will help us to integrate/re-envision the role of the writing course in light of the department's other research and curricular strengths (e.g., social media studies, environmental and health communication, intercultural communication, etc.). Additionally, there is the opportunity to develop coursework in the candidate's area of expertise.We invite applications for a 9-month, full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position at the Senior Lecturer level. The position involves 100% teaching responsibilities, which is equivalent to 3 courses per semester. The successful candidate will also advise approximately 25 undergraduate Communication majors, which entails keeping abreast of university, college, and departmental graduation requirements and meeting with students no less than once per semester to plan enrollment strategies and to monitor progress. Responsibilities also include serving on the awards committee and participating in other departmental, college, and university committees. Summer and winter session teaching and distance learning opportunities may also be available. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2024. Pay Range:
$58,600.00 - $164,000.00Pay Ranges:
