JOB DESCRIPTIONSkiltrek is seeking a Lead Cloud Engineer specializing in Microsoft Azure. As a senior member of the CLOUD ENGINEERing team, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and managing our cloud infrastructure to ensure high availability, scalability, and security. In the current environment, there are about 550 on prem servers, 200 will be moving to the cloud, some local servers will be sun-setting, and some net new will be added. This Senior Engineer will be leading the efforts of their on prem to Azure migrations. It is important that this Engineer is able to explain best practices and can work closely with everyone from a junior engineer to the CIO to go through challenges and to game plan on solutions and next steps. They will be taking ownership of this project from a technical standpoint and they need to be able to identify what needs to be done so the project can be completed successfully. They are currently utilizing a 3rd party to help with the migration and there is also an architect on the team who this person would be working closely with. There are currently a lot of application/database dependencies in their environment and they need help with the documentation- this person will have to be able to work with some nuances and to be able to pivot to come up with strategies.REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE- Must have 5+ years of experience in Microsoft Azure -- Strong on the infrastructure side (not DevOps)
o On prem to Azure migration experience. Planned migration for 2024 with 700 servers.
o Knows Azure inside and out- well versed in Azure and can speak to them to management, stakeholders, and other teams- developers, end user experience etc.
- Experience with storage accounts in Azure
- Experience supporting major infrastructure migration initiatives
- Deep understanding of cloud computing concepts, virtualization, networking, security, and storage
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages such as PowerShell or Bash
- Comfortable in sharing their design philosophy
- Driven, motivated, and a strong communicator who enjoys mentoring Junior Engineers
- Ability to take ownership and a "do what it takes" attitudeNICE TO HAVE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE* Terraform and understanding Infrastructure as a Code
* Knowledge of AWS or GCP
* Certification: Azure Solutions Architect, Microsoft, Google, AWS, Cisco, VMware, Citrix, PowerShell
* Property/casualty insurance background and jewelry industry experience are helpful, but not required.
* Bachelor's degree
