Sr. Joining Engineer, Central Manufacturing Engineering, Body In White

The Sr. Joining Engineer position, reporting to the Joining Engineering Manager, is located at out Fremont Factory location. The primary responsibility of this role is to manage and launch Joining Engineering projects from design to start of production. The candidate should have expertise and experience in automotive manufacturing with a full understanding of joining equipment. This includes providing input and specification of equipment, quality, cycle time, design for manufacturability and joint development.

• BSc. or B.Eng. or equivalent certification, or proven equivalent experience. 
• 5+ years of experience with joining equipment and processes for BIW automotive: Self piercing rivet, remote laser welding, spot welding, material dispensing and brazing.
• 5+ years of experience in setting up and running adaptive, 6-sigma, and other joining monitoring and optimization systems.
•  Kuka and Fanuc experience for day-to-day joining process application (robot path & position teaching is a plus).
• Proven interpersonal skills and ability to objectively resolve conflict within a large group.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Able to work flexible hours and schedules as required.
