- The Client is seeking an energy engineer to join our business sustainability team supporting the Eastern Region properties.
- This technical position will report to the Business Sustainability Manager. This position will be remote with the selected candidate needing to reside in the Eastern region.
- The Eastern region consist of 17 properties encompassing 1.9M square feet of space.
- The primary locations include Endicott, NY, Greenlawn, NY, Wayne, NJ & Manassas, VA. Preference will be for candidates within close proximity to one of the primary locations.
- The successful candidate will play a key supporting role in the company's new Net Zero by 2030 goal.
- The candidate will report into the Business Sustainability department which focuses on resource use reductions, lowering utility costs, enhancing environmental performance and embracing new technologies in the operation of the ES sectors national portfolio of buildings.
- The Business Sustainability department is committed to enhancing the bottom line & reducing our environmental footprint by effectively managing energy, water and waste through design and operation of our facilities.
- The candidate can expect regular interactions with other members of the Business Sustainability team, consisting of both energy and sustainability engineers & service related interaction with many members of the Facilities organization and leadership team (regional directors) as well as other functions to include Operations, Engineering, Safety, Health & Environment, Finance, & members of the ES Leadership team (ESLT), to insure their needs are met.
- In addition, the candidate will interact with external parties such as engineering and architectural firms, local municipalities, government organizations, non for profit organizations and other sustainability and facilities related groups.
Responsibilities will include:
Identification & implementation support of energy efficiency measures & greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction projects in commercial buildings
Calculation of project benefit to include energy savings, GHG impact, cost savings, simple payback period and return on investment
Identification and capturing of incentives associated with energy efficiency activities
Utilities management & procurement
Development of total cost of ownership/ lifecycle cost & GHG models for commercial equipment purchases
Energy use assessments
Facility energy use/ GHG impact comparisons & modeling
Development & maintenance of Net Zero decarbonizaiton roadmaps
Skills Required
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Energy Management, Energy Engineering, Facilities Management, Environmental technology or Sustainability studies and 3-5 years work experience in the areas of commercial energy management, energy efficiency, energy auditing, building infrastructure & systems, renewable energy systems & greenhouse gas accounting.
- In addition, strong interpersonal skills involving interfacing with both internal and external parties, reporting & documentation and proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point will be required.
