SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
This position will be part of the system ET Safety and Quality Assurance Team. This position will assist in the reviewing of ET department safe work practices and procedures to ensure compliance with Amtrak and regulatory standards. This position will assist with the managing and creating of department specific safe work practices/procedures that will improve and streamline processes while keeping safety at the forefront. This position will assist the team with performing safety and project audits. This position will be working with the project managers in creating, developing, and managing the System ET IMCS fiscal year capital program. They will ensure that any needed material is ordered and arrives on schedule for IMCS division installation. They will assist in creating a system to ensure the organization of materials, proper distribution, and material tracking.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Assisting with the creation and development of the System ET IMCS fiscal year capital programs.
• Ordering and tracking the material needed for the completion of the ET IMCS capital programs.
• Reviewing and approving material ordered from procurement meets the ET Standards. 
• Ensure projects/work are completed to the department specific standards.
• Assisting with performing ET field safety audits and ET field project audits. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must have High School Diploma or equivalent. 
• Must have demonstrated experience in ET maintenance and construction. 

 

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Strong organizational, administrative, and planning skills.
• Must have thorough knowledge of all railroad operations.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills required, as position interacts with technical and non-technical personnel. 
• Prior satisfactory job performance is required.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of 10 years demonstrated experience with railroad electric traction systems. 

• Must have knowledge of Electric Traction Department Construction Standards, Electric Traction Standard Operating Instructions, AMT-2, and RWP.
• Demonstrated interest or competency in the railroad industry.
• Previous industry experience (internships, co-op, professional)
• Demonstrated experience and effectiveness in communication skills, including writing, speaking and the presentation of instruction, content data and analysis.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.  
• Demonstrated experience in Microsoft products and Smartsheet.
• Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Position may be required to work extended hours, including limited night and weekend activities.
• Office and field environment 
• Primary work location is Philadelphia, but position interfaces with field personnel and substations between Washington, Boston, Philadelphia, and Harrisburg.
• Occasional exposure to elements in the field
• High mental demand for resolving critical issues that arise.
• Travel up to 50%

 

COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

PAY TRANSPARENCY:
The salary/hourly range is $103,700 - $134,460.  Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation. In accordance with federal law governing security checks of covered individuals for providers of public transportation (Title 6 U.S.C. §1143), Amtrak is required to screen applicants for any permanent or interim disqualifying criminal offenses. 


Note that any education requirement listed above may be deemed satisfied if you have an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
