Job Summary

The Senior Employee Relations Partner delivers on our Purpose by ensuring compliance with employment law and Southwest values and delivering appropriate responses when employment violations arise. This role manages full cycle investigations and provides recommendations to critical partners such as HR Business Partners, Labor Administration, and Leadership to promote a positive work environment. The Senior Employee Relations Partner is an organized collaborator and is excited to be part of meaningful and impactful initiatives and drive the future of Southwest.

This role is a hybrid position based out of our Corporate Campus in Dallas, TX, which requires Employees to work onsite on our Corporate Campus at least three days a week. The Department designates the specific three days of the week Employees must work on-site.

Responsibilities
Mentor and develop Associate and Mid-level Employee Relations Partners on various Employee related matters
Work autonomously to conduct interviews and investigations related to alleged violations to Southwest Airlines People Policies
Provide expert advisement and consultation to Leaders working through investigations and Employee Relations matters on approach and best practices with practical implementation strategies
Assess level of partnership and involvement that is needed to conduct an investigation and provides coaching and guidance to leadership to help determine appropriate resolution
Compile and analyze investigation information, prepares a detailed written report of the investigation, and notifies the appropriate Leaders of the outcome of the investigation
Identify Employee Relations metrics and trends and areas of concern and partner with HR Business Partner Team, Labor Administration and Leadership to provide guidance, develop proactive strategies, solutions, actionable feedback, education and training opportunities
Leverage data to influence action, support decision making and root cause assessments as well as develop recommendations and build solutions
Provide predictive analysis to our the HR Business Team and Engagement and Culture team to drive proactive planning
Provide feedback to our DEI Partners regarding the various Employee Relations matters to drive awareness and solution
Collaborate with SWA University and Legal to produce enterprise Leadership training on various compliance related topics
Take pro-active steps to address situations or initiatives that may be perceived negatively by the associates, working with Leaders to enhance their abilities to recognize widespread situations and respond appropriately
May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography, and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology
Skilled in listening and oral communication skills necessary to conduct inquiries and investigation interviews face-to-face and by telephone
Skilled in exercising solid judgement when evaluating and handling investigations and Employee Relations issues.
Skilled in maintaining professionalism and meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary, and sensitive Company information.
Ability to assist with training and facilitation functions in both large and small group settings required. Strong public speaking skills preferred
Ability to remain completely objective when gathering information during the inquiries and investigation process and provide an objective narrative
Ability to work through ambiguous and complex situations with minimal oversight from Employee Relations Leader and/or Senior Employee Relations Partner
Education
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
Expert level experience, expansive and far reaching knowledge in:
Employee Relations or Human Resources
Investigative experience with applicable Employment Laws and government regulations
Licensing/Certification
N/A
Physical Abilities
Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be able to travel, including overnight stays and work varying schedules, including extended hours.
Pay & Benefits:
Competitive market salary from $102,500 to $113,900* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the
discretion of the company.
