The Middleby Corporation is searching for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join its expanding automation team, Middleby Automation (powered by Lab2Fab). The role involves driving the development and adoption of innovative new technology for commercial restaurants. Our FryBot™ and PizzaBot™ robotic frying and pizza preparation systems are two solutions we’ve recently brought to market.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining electrical systems for our food robotic solutions. You will collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers, software developers, and robotics experts. Your expertise will play a pivotal role in advancing our technologies while upholding the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

Responsibilities:
- Electrical System Design: Design, develop, and maintain electrical systems for food robotics equipment, encompassing control panels, wiring diagrams, and component selection.
- Circuit Design: Create and optimize electrical circuits to ensure they meet safety standards, efficiency requirements, and compliance based on defined specifications.
- Prototyping and Testing: Oversee the development of prototypes and conduct comprehensive testing to validate designs for performance and safety.
- System Integration: Collaborate with mechanical engineers and software developers to integrate electrical systems including motor drives, power devices, sensors, and off-the-shelf controller boards.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve electrical issues related to development and deployed systems.
- Documentation: Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including schematics, manuals, and reports, to support manufacturing, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Compliance: Ensure that electrical systems and components comply with food industry standards and safety regulations. Support necessary modifications and improvements per required certification.
- Research and Innovation: Contribute to internal research and development to stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in Electrical Engineering and robotics.
- Manufacturing Support: Assist in sourcing and managing vendors for commercial or scale planning. Prepare RFQs, manage vendors, and handle multiple sources for components with supply chain and end-of-life planning.
- Intellectual Property: Participate in the generation and review of intellectual property.
- Travel: Occasional travel (up to 25%) to support clients and installations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; Advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience in designing electrical systems for industrial automation, robotics, or similar fields.
- Proficiency in PCB design software such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, or Cadence Allegro is preferred.
- Knowledge of PLC programming (Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley or Rockwell Automation is a plus).
- Experience in system integration and troubleshooting of automation systems (hardware and software components).
- Successful track record of delivering automation projects on time and within budget.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical standards such as UL/CE; familiarity with food industry regulations such as NSF/FDA is a plus.
