The Electrical/Robotics Engineer is responsible for, but not limited to assisting in the design, construction, and testing of electrical components into any number of devices or designs. Tasks could include but are not limited to schematic capture and layout, control board design and layout, generation and review of wiring diagrams and schematics, and monitoring manufacturing processes and practices. Must be a good problem-solver and have adequate knowledge of electrical test equipment and components. On occasion, the engineer will be asked to review/analyze fielded or proposed designs to identify weaknesses or key aspects.
Key job responsibilities and skills:
- Knowledge and system integration of COTS (Commercial off the Shelf) equipment: radio frequency (RF) communications, GPS system technologies, electromagnetics, power supplies and cable harnesses.
- Experience with printed circuit board (PCB) layout and schematic capture (experience with Altium and analog circuit design preferred).
- Experience with safe handling of high voltage (<5KV) / high current circuits while under test.
- General knowledge of communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, etc.), including the benefits and/or trade offs are of using one or the other.
- General knowledge of electronic filter circuits and their basic designs (high pass, low pass, band pass, band stop), where using higher order filters benefits over lower order filters and vice versa.
- General knowledge of op-amps, using them as buffers, voltage followers, and general amplifiers/attenuators in circuit design.
- The use of standard test equipment such as oscilloscopes, waveform generators and logic analyzers.
- Success in this position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize resources.
- Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of embedded computer systems and micro-processor technologies.
- Familiarity with microcontroller programming/debugging.
- Experience with GNU/Linux.
- Basic Proficiency with crimping/soldering.
- The ability to create standard design process documents such as trade studies, requirements, specifications, test plans and user procedures.
- The ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Moderate lifting; up to 45 pounds.
- Body mobility to stoop, kneel, bend and reach.
Beneficial skills to possess, but are not required:
· Networking experience (IP, Ethernet, VLAN, etc.)
· Small-space, high voltage design
· MBSE tool experience (for example, SPARX)
· Experience with acoustics/sound propagation
· IPC-J Standard to class III certified soldering, rework, and inspection
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Robotics Engineering or equivalent technical field.
- Minimum of 5 YEARS of experience in COTS electronics implementations
Clearance Requirements:
This position requires the ability to obtain a government security clearance. Selected applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. Employment is contingent on other factors, including, but not limited to, background checks and drug screening.
