Position Specific Description
NextEra Energy is currently seeking an Electrical Fleet Team Electrical Engineer (Generator Subject Matter Expert SME) who can apply diversified knowledge of Electrical Engineering principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments and fields related to fossil power generation. This candidate will need to make decisions independently regarding engineering complexities and methods. This position requires the use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices in this individual's field. Supervision and guidance related largely to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters will be required. This individual will present to executive leadership and communicate RCA's and implementation plans. Employees in this role have responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope, selection of areas for investigation, and development of novel concepts.
Areas of responsibility and duties:
  • Plans and develops engineering projects concerned with unique or controversial complexities which have
  • important impact on major company programs
  • Acts as technical liaison to individuals within and outside the organization with responsibility to act
  • independently regarding technical matters pertaining to individual's field
  • Completes assignments given in broad terms concerning general objectives and limitations
  • Performs other job-related duties as assignee

The EFT Generator SME will focus on fossil turbine generator and generator auxiliary systems, diagnostics, root cause analysis and countermeasure development, including but not limited to:
  • 3 phase fossil turbine generators up to 1100 MW in size
  • Electrical Test Experience
  • Generator Collector systems
  • Generator Auxiliary systems
  • Seal oil
  • Isolate Phase Bus
  • Hydrogen Gas

Desired Qualifications:
  • Strongly preferred to have knowledge and experience in operation, diagnostics, design, testing and repair techniques of large turbine generators.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with at least five years of experience in the field of generator and generator auxiliary equipment technology. Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer is a plus.
