The Designer is responsible for both tile and broadloom running line and custom product. This position will assume ownership for specific Product Development projects and new initiatives. This is both an artistic and textile-design role with a comprehensive understanding of floorcovering constructions. Occasional travel is required.
Based upon experience level of the candidate selected, the position may be filled as Designer or Senior Designer. This position will work out of the Artesia Design Studio on a hybrid schedule.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Major responsibility to create patterns, ideas, and color direction for the design of innovative products.
- Develop exceptional running line and custom design by using computer aided design system (CAD).
- Ability to lead meetings, make presentations, and pitch ideas to the leadership team.
- Responsible for utilizing strong original artistic skill to take designs from concept to full color palette product completion.
- Must be able to identify a problem and implement innovative solutions with little to no assistance.
- Work independently and with Product Development team in Dalton to design exceptional running line style and custom designs using computer aided design system
- Take ownership of large projects and see through to completion; to include reviewing marketing material for projects
- Develop conceptual ideas through research and experimentation
- Lead and interact with customers during client visits
- Develop project focused custom carpet solutions through a collaborative environment working with account executives and clients
- Travel and participate in market research and feedback, customer product presentations, industry design and trade shows
- Actively participate in design critique, process feedback, and self-critique during design process
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors degree in design/art-related field, (fine art, surface design, textile design)
- Minimum 4+ years experience as a textile designer
- Flooring industry experience preferred but not required.
