THE ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS
The Senior Copywriter will write and edit copy that consistently meets (and elevates) the Ulta Beauty brand voice for the Store and Print channels. They will contribute to a fast-paced team and help foster and maintain excellent collaborative relationships with brand partners. You will assist in onboarding and managing contract copywriters for various UBM work streams. This role collaborates with a team of Designers, Production Artists, others Writers, Photographers and Stylists. This role will work seamlessly with their manager and the larger One Creative Team, as well as teams across Merchandising, Integrated Marketing, Member Marketing as we continue to grow, evolve, and innovate. They should be a self-starter, self-motivated, able to work independently, and perform multiple tasks under minimal supervision. As a senior team member on the team, they are responsible for brainstorming concepts, sketching wireframes, prototyping mockups, participating in design/app critiques, refining design directions, and finalizing design details. They will identify, document, and communicate design team progress, industry trends, and technical issues.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Functions)
- Implement the Ulta Beauty brand identity and voice into every campaign & communication within the Store and Print channels; partnering with design
- Works within brand standards and consistently applies the UB voice to create a seamless & consistent guest experience with an omni-channel lens
- Partner closely with the Studio, Creative Ops and the larger Creative Design Team – ensuring cohesion of all brand & campaign elements
- Demonstrates expert-level knowledge of current trends, technology, design systems and other editorial influences with the ability to apply an omni-channel lens
- A mentor to more junior writers; shares knowledge, experience, and skill with othes; works with design counterparts to ensure continuity across digital touchpoints
- Create and build documentation on process evolution, new ways of working
- Extreme efficiency, organization and attention to detail is a must; builds files press ready, quickly within tight timelines
- Able to balance several work streams and prioritize deliverables – meeting deadlines with quality design
- Excellent interpersonal skills across both creative and business departments
- Be responsive to ever changing business need that support the overall brand
- Contribute to editorial brainstorms and ad hoc requests, offer suggestions and recommendations on creating more cohesion in copy messaging and alignment across channels
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- BA in English, Journalism, Communications or Advertising
- 5+ years copywriting experience
- Agency, content studio, and/or editorial publishing experience a plus
- Adobe InDesign/InCopy experience a plus
- Experience in beauty, retail or editorial a plus
- A passion for Ulta Beauty, its products, and its guests.
- A great eye for detail, demonstrate creative and innovative problem solving.
- Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface and present to all levels of the organization.
- Think strategically, critically, and creatively.
- Action oriented, self-starting, and highly motivated with ability to prioritize and drive results.
Adept at managing multiple, concurrent, and complex projects.
