Description
The career level manufacturing Controls Engineer will work autonomously with occasional mentorship from supervision. Skilled in electrical project implementation and troubleshooting of industrial manufacturing automation systems vital for the production of parts. Work is performed in a centralized manufacturing engineering activity or assembly/plant activity where creativity and initiative is exercised as well as independent judgment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Technical resource for plant electricians
- Supervise project installations by contractors and plant electricians
- Develop and plan electrical projects
- Analyze, solve, and diagnose electrical problems in manufacturing operation
- Design and modify electrical control circuits and programs
- Plan and forecast project spending
- Support plant continuous improvement activity
- Experience with manufacturing process equipment, knowledge of system engineering, software development & hardware integration
- Solid understanding of common controls architecture Rockwell
- Automation Technology including PLC, HMI, Drive Controllers and communication software
- Able to make contributions to the resolution of complex manufacturing problems
- Detailed understanding of planned and predictive maintenance and the Maximo system
- Detailed understanding of GM Safety policies, specifications, and audit module requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Ability to rotate all 3 shifts as required
- Experience with prioritizing work with limited resources required
- In-depth solid understanding of common controls architecture Rockwell Automation Technology preferred, including PLC, HMI, Drive Controllers and Communication software (RSLinx, RSLogix, FactoryTalk View, Ethernet, Devicenet)
- Able to interpret, develop and troubleshoot ladder logic PLC programs
Preferred Requirements:
- Prior managerial/leadership experience with electrician or controls teams preferred
- Experience with Fanuc Robots - programming and troubleshooting is highly desirable, but not required
- Experience with Siemens Industrial controls and communications highly desirable, but not required (Solution Line hardware, SIMATIC S7, TIA Portal, Step 7, Profinet/Profibus)
