Sr. Commercial Counsel

Howard Energy Partners (HEP) is a growth-oriented, purpose-driven, energy infrastructure company focused on creating long-term value by delivering positive energy to our customers and our communities. We own and operate a portfolio of traditional and low-carbon energy infrastructure assets that are strategically positioned to serve current and future energy needs. We are looking for a self-motivated attorney to join our legal team as Senior Commercial Counsel. This position will provide primary legal support for the Company's commercial activities, including our low carbon ventures. Our ideal candidate would have familiarity with corporate or commercial law and experience working with attorneys in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This position will be located in our corporate headquarters in San Antonio, Texas and will report to our General Counsel.
Expected Responsibilities

• Negotiating and documenting commercial midstream transactions, including transactions related to the gathering, processing, transportation and storage of natural gas and liquid energy products.
• Providing legal advice for HEP's low carbon ventures projects, including support for carbon transportation and sequestration activities, DOE funding opportunities and regulatory and tax planning.
• Assisting with acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, debt and equity financings and other corporate transactions.
• Analyzing, developing and coordinating regulatory and contractual compliance activities.
• Providing legal support for the project development activities undertaken by HEP's engineering and operations team.
• Coordinating with and overseeing outside counsel in disputes and litigation.
• Supervising and supporting the work of internal contracts administration staff.

Skills and Qualifications

• Currently living in the San Antonio area or willing to relocate;
• Five or more years of experience in energy and/or corporate and securities matters at a major law firm or in-house at an energy company.
• Ability to prioritize conflicting demands and work under tight deadlines.
• Ability to develop and sustain positive relationships with internal and external clients and customers.
• Strong analytical, oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Must be enthusiastic in all aspects of work performance.
