Primary Responsibilities:
As a Cloud Data Engineer supporting the SAFFIRE program, you will be working closely with developers and data scientists to establish a consolidated data analytics environment utilizing COTS and FOSS software. You will design and implement data ingestion strategies, data warehouses, data visualizations, API integrations, and automation solutions for end-to-end large scale data analytics solutions. You will be a key member of the team, where the rubber meets the road, doing work that matters for some of the U.S. Government's most critical missions, and utilizing the latest technologies in Cloud Computing, AI/ML, and DevSecOps.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data platforms for large-scale data processing and storage in AWS
- Develop complex data flows and design/build data pipelines for collecting, transforming, and loading data into data storage solutions
- Optimize data platforms for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency, monitoring and troubleshooting any issues that may arise
- Ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency through effective data validation, cleaning, testing, and monitoring
- TS/SCI required to start with CI poly preferred.
- Experience with AWS Infrastructure
- Experience with Elastic Stack infrastructure, including Elasticsearch and Kibana, and visualization platforms, including Tableau
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting/problem solving skills
- Effective communication skills
- Experience with Python and SQL programming
- Strong understanding of databases and database structures
- Experience building highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets
- Experience with CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar IaC technology.
- AWS Certification - SysOps or DevOps
- Information Assurance/DoD 8570 certification (like Security+)
- Knowledge of and experience with Geospatial data and technologies
- Experience with data visualization tools like Kibana, Tableau, and PowerBI
- Experience with big data processing and technologies: ETL, Hadoop, Elasticsearch for Hadoop, structured data, SQL schemas and queries, Apache Spark, Databricks, etc
