DFA has an opening for a Sr. Claims Analyst (Workers' Compensation). Work independently to perform or lead and monitor the reporting, investigation, payment, defense, and resolution of the claims incurred by covered entities. Review new and/or large, serious claims and perform needed investigations to determine compensability as well as possible subrogation or apportionment. Produce budgetary and performance reports for all claims. Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of claims management standards and best practices. Oversee outside service providers, including carriers and third-party administrators. Promote compliance with insurance and claims programs. Ensure company compliance with applicable federal and state laws, including reporting requirements. Function as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and monitor guidelines for reporting all injuries in a timely and proper fashion
- Develop and monitor for compliance the requirements for adjusters and the insurance carriers to follow in the handling and adjudication of all assigned claims
- Develop and implement the appropriate procedures to minimize covered operations exposures
- Monitor all new and pending claims for proper contact and timely investigation and the placement of reserves, based upon the claim’s fact based exposure
- Assist all covered locations with questions and issues of concern
- Provide a weekly report documenting the number of pending claims and the total reserves for those claims
- Analyze workers’ compensation within established guidelines
- Handle a wide range of insurance claims or matters but mostly focus on workers’ compensation.
- Correspond with insurance company personnel, brokers, legal counsel, other experts, employees, or claimants
- Provide reports to facility or plant leaders to assist with determining trends and causes of loss
- Oversee the claims information database and monitor the quarterly updates for accuracy and completeness
- Review assigned adjusters’ handling of claims and push for prompt and economical resolution of pending files
- Serve as a subject matter expert, advisor, and consultant on various claims, claims programs, and optional solutions

Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of claims handling
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems
- Strong analytical skills
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, for a diverse range of internal and external audiences
- Able to apply processing procedures, company guidelines, and analysis of serious or large claims to resolution
- Able to correspond with insurance company personnel, brokers, legal counsel, other experts, employees and claimants
- Able to organize time, energy, and resources effectively to achieve goals (i.e., organizational skills)
- Able to comply with deadlines and priorities while maintaining composure when facing tight deadlines
- Able to work with accuracy and detail oriented
- Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork

- Must be able to read, write and speak English
