Position Summary:
Healthcare reporting and data analyst, developing, modifying and maintaining standard and ad hoc reports, dashboards and data sets with a focus on delivering operational, clinical and financial insights to meet needs of the organization or its affiliated organizations. Works with internal stakeholders, develop report analysis, design, and support for existing and new dashboards. Develops technical aspects of the reports, including design and structure, data integrity and persistence, and dashboard and user interfaces primarily using SQL, Tableau, Excel. Upholds the highest standards of security, privacy, and data stewardship. Creates and maintains all necessary documentation related to programs and software applications in use.
Responsibilities
  • Development and production of high quality analytic reports for internal and external use based on the business needs and direction of Aspire Health Plan.
  • Gather and document reporting requirements to design, develop, test and implement reports and dashboards that utilize the underlying data store(s)/ data warehouse(s) / data marts(s).
  • Collects, analyzes, abstracts and reports on data using information technologies to support clinical/operational processes and departmental/organizational initiatives.
  • Designs advanced data queries based on customer inquiries/needs. Extracts, validates, and analyzes desired data.
  • Defines the scope and format of advanced reports and prepares same.
  • Leads the design, implementation and evaluation of advanced data management and analysis processes, including determining the metrics and methodologies to be used.
  • Delivers advanced analysis in requested formats to internal/external audiences as required.
  • Lead and consult the business on BI capabilities on existing, new and emerging BI tools
  • Follow best practices for BI development, deployments, and coding standardizations, including the creation and maintenance of necessary documentation for deployed solutions
  • Streamline the report development process.
  • Identify, monitor and report BI project-related issues.
  • Provide support and guidance to the Aspire Health Plan leadership to assure that data and reports provided meet the needs of the organization
  • Develop thorough understanding of data structures and content to inform the development of detailed and complex data processes.
  • Interpret large volumes of data and apply analytical & statistical methods to identify actionable insights.
  • Lead strategic analyses to solve key business problems, including understanding the business problem, knowing the data warehouse in detail, and pulling data from multiple datasets for analysis.
  • Present insights and recommendations for strategic & tactical actions that drive revenue, product, and/or business change.
  • Identify new technical requirements, and test/troubleshoot new product data capture functionality.
  • Recommend data tool & infrastructure enhancements, and work with data partners through implementation.
  • Pursues data quality, troubleshoot data validation, and see issues to resolution.
  • Effectively translate analytical findings into the language of decision makers; communicate findings effectively supported by visual representations.
  • Develop improved reporting and tracking of metrics against key business goals.
  • Work with managers and vendors to manage issues and maintain adherence with change control/management policies for data.
  • Demonstrated ability to define and refine forecasts based on historical datasets.
  • Demonstrated success driving process changes based on analytic analysis.
  • Recommend and implement tools associated with software development to improve quality and productivity.
  • Drive complex analytical initiatives that combine data from multiple sources to extract meaning, reconcile assumptions, and identify logical path for action.
  • Perform other activities and functions as defined by the Director, such as additional program development, project management, and ad hoc reporting and database analysis activities.

Position Requirements
  • BA/BS required
  • 3-5 years of experience in analytics, preferably in healthcare with emphasis on dashboard development, identification of trends and delivery of high quality analytics and reporting
  • Exceptional business judgment & problem solving skills
  • Strong background in quantitative thinking & data analysis
  • Proficiency in authoring and development of SQL code, stored procedures, ETL, EDI and other database application programing skills
  • Experience using complex analytical and data visualization tools, such as Tableau, MySQL Workbench, Excel Power Builder
  • Organizational and time management skills.

  • Self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity; with a thoughtful and practical approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to utilize reference materials, the Internet, and other resources to continuously improve skills and solve technical problems.
  • Knowledge of Disease Management and/or Wellness Promotion program development and management.
  • Advanced general computer skills, including understanding of, and experience with, software development, various programming methodologies, and software systems and design.
  • Experience with architecting and supporting operations of Data Warehouse implementations that provided value to organizations and users.
  • Deep understanding of relational databases, data modeling and data architecting
  • Experience integrating clinical and administrative healthcare data.
  • Experience and knowledge of Business Intelligence technology and best practices
  • Proficient knowledge of healthcare industry standards and regulations including HIPAA, ANSI X12N standard transactions (e.g. 837 v5010), NCPDP, CPT, ICD-9 and ICD-10.
  • Deep knowledge of health plan-specific datasets (e.g. claims, eligibility, etc.) reporting/analytic uses (e.g. cost and utilization reporting, disease management, etc.) and terminology (e.g. PMPM and per 1000 measures, diagnosis/procedure codes, episode groupers, risk adjustment, etc.).
  • Knowledge of SSIS, SSRS and VL Trader helpful.
  • Knowledge of Stored Procedures, PHP, XML, Perl scripts desirable
