POSITION PURPOSE
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop a systematic approach to data entry and data processing for quality in analysis, reporting, and facilitating the monthly accounting close for consolidated corporate entities (inclusive of residential, commercial and retail properties)
- Maintain & collect data and prepare account reconciliations for all property balance sheet accounts with adequate support
- Train and support accounting and property management staff on accruals, etc.
- Prepare ad-hoc requests and analysis as needed
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures and resolve related accounting issues
- Analyze & research information as needed to answer accounting and financial questions by verifying information and interpreting data
- Collaborate with other departments within the Company related to various accounting and financial projects
- Prepare intercompany reconciliations and settlements
- Maintain and create financial schedules as necessary
- Assist with financial statement audits including preparation of supporting documentation
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- 3-5 years Job Cost or Property Accounting, GL Accounting experience (required)
- Strong understanding of basic GAAP accounting principles
- Real estate, infrastructure and/or credit investment experience preferred
- Highly analytical and detail oriented
- Deadline driven and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Ability to work independently and to proactively evaluate and address work opportunities within the area of responsibility
- Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions
- Ability to solve practical problems
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex agreements
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal
- Ability to effectively present information to customers, clients and other employees of the organization
