Summary of the role
Seeking an experienced Active Directory Engineer to support a highly complex environment. Solid understanding and focus on cloud technologies and services are essential for this position. Knowledge of Microsoft Azure along with AD architecture and infrastructure (LDAP, Directory Replication, Group Policy, Azure AD, etc), and federating with AD in AWS environment.
In this role as an Active Directory Engineer, you will be collaborating with other teams ensuring AD is designed, configured, and maintained as per defined, regulated and audited policies and standards. This position will provide support and administration as well as design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of Directory Services.
Job Duties/responsibilities
  • Develop technical partnerships with key support, architecture, and operations teams.
  • Develop and enhance enterprise Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory engineering standards for a multi-site organization, including operating system and authentication protocols.
  • Produce basic project plans, perform root cause analysis documents and report on progress to management.
  • The candidate should be able to perform engineering level work on Active Directory and Domain administration and demonstrate the ability to be a subject matter expert in AD technologies
  • Assist in administering, designing and developing integrated solutions to meet business requirements
  • Will ensure continuity in the day-to-day operation of the Windows Active Directory multi domain infrastructure (LDAP, Directory Replication, Group Policy, Establishing Trusts, Organizational Units, DNS, DHCP, Schema, etc.)
  • Provide Directory Service support on current and proposed systems and applications to other organizations and clients
  • Perform repairs, maintenance and upgrades of existing systems using solutions in accordance with standard operating procedures
  • Participate in Change Management process including research, documentation, planning and implementation
  • Perform and evaluate cost analyses and vendor comparisons of software/hardware systems to ensure cost-effective and efficiency and measures feasibility of various approaches and makes recommendations
  • Analyze and resolve program support deficiencies and conduct testing to enhance performance
  • Conduct moderately complex projects or phases of significant projects; and coordinate the efforts of technical support staff
  • Work in a team atmosphere, able to learn quickly, take initiative, and have a great attitude
  • Assist in performing root cause analysis of critical outage and incidents, engineer permanent solutions, and coordinate implementation
  • Provide work guidance to less experienced personnel
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership

Education/requirements
  • Experience with existing Application teams integrating with modern authentication tools and methods (migration from legacy tools - I.e., Kerberos, etc.,)
  • Experience with Azure Active Directory SSO and modern authentication products such as SAML, OAuth, and WS-Fed;
  • Experience with Azure Active Directory API access using the Graph API;
  • Experience with Windows Server 2012 - 2019
  • Experience in system engineering, operating systems, programming or architecture to include: At least 7+ years of hand-on experience with Microsoft Active Directory, experience installing, configuring, upgrading and AD migrations; experience developing and implementing Clustering solutions; experience developing and implementing High Availability solutions
  • Experience using Quest Migration Manager, Recovery Manager for AD, GPO Admin
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of Internet fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, SSL, HTTP)
  • Availability to provide after-hours/on-call rotational support for a 24x7x365 operational environment
  • Basic understanding of certificate services/PKI administration
  • Experience with Azure AD and Azure AD Domain Services to include working/supporting AAD Connect, SSO, SAML, and MFA
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with customers, senior-level personnel and team members, both written and verbal
  • Proven ability to multi-task and to prioritize rapidly changing task assignments
  • Analytical and creative problem-solving skills for the design, creation and testing of systems
