The Golf & Sports Sales Manager will be dedicated to driving event sales in all areas of sport and social bookings, including golf tournaments and small golf group opportunities, using innovative concepts to increase revenue. This position will work closely with the resort and membership sales team to understand the amenities and opportunities and work to upsell the entire reports offerings. He/She works to convert leads, personal sales efforts and RFP’s to revenue conclusion for rooms, golf, food and beverage, merchandise and other ancillary revenue. Additionally, he/she coordinates and services all aspects of golf events to ensure a positive, high level of service. Responsible for achieving Annual Sales Plans utilizing organized sales approaches and processes, skilled prospecting creativity, and marketing programs.
Sales Activities
- Solicits new and existing accounts to meet and exceed revenue goals through various avenues including but not limited to telephone solicitation and outside sales calls.
- Develops contacts with area corporate, local businesses, civic organizations, and charity groups to promote our golf tournament venues.
- Maintains positive contact with previous groups and follow-up on all initial contacts of potential new golf events and outings.
- Marketing of facilities by the following resources:
- Lead generation through donation request letters and building a prospective tournament database
- Develop and maintain sufficient prospect inventory to ensure ongoing contact with the existing client base
- Maintain a minimum of 10 - 20 active prospects that can book within 60 days
- Work with the Resort Director of Sales and Director of Golf to review goals and a plan to achieve them. Includes review of Sales Forecast and upcoming prospecting focus, plus a review of prospect inventory and Sales Booking Reports.
Golf Tournament & Group Outings Coordination
- Coordinates golf events from the initial planning stages until the completion of the event.
- Onsite on days of major events
- Assists with the registration of golf outings on the day of the event.
- Ensure all Food & Beverage details are entered in Delphi and conveyed to the Catering Department with a complete accounting of revenues
- Communicate with the accounting department to set up accurate billing to ensure all billable items are charged
- Advise department managers of upcoming events: ensure proper coordination of special set-up, accommodations, or other arrangements.
- Follow up after the event on billing questions, surveys, and feedback
- Works with customers to promote events, sell logo merchandise and other golf services.
- Monitors business golf sales volume forecast and plans accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs and other expenses as well as coordination with all resort departments.
Other Responsibilities
- Organization of contracts, tee times, and golf-related function details.
- Ensures golf sales data is maintained accurately and that events are entered and revenue is tracked through the golf ops revenue report.
- Maintain thorough understanding of golf operations, course rotation, tournament play, and tee time arrangement.
- Competitive Market Analysis: personal visits to competing facilities
- Attends staff meetings.
- Maintains flexibility to take on new and different tasks as directed by the Director of Golf.
- In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the resort
